A trampoline is generally installed on a flat surface in backyard, garden or other outdoor place. You assemble the trampoline properly to make it a safe playing area for your family. But your trampoline is at risk if it is not secured. You need to secure your trampoline so that it does not accidentally rotated, collapsed or blown away.

How to Secure A Trampoline in Your Backyard

The trampolines are made in various sizes and shapes. The larger trampolines are heavier than the small to medium trampolines. Some rectangle/square and gymnastics trampolines are very heavy in weight. But that does not mean you don’t need to secure such trampolines. Irrespective of size, shape or weight, you must secure your trampoline to keep it safe and increase its lifespan.

#1. Use Trampoline Anchors

The trampoline anchors are the most useful tools made for a trampoline. You should get a set of trampoline anchors to secure your trampoline in your backyard. There are many different types of trampoline anchor kits available in market. Let us understand the types of trampoline anchors and their effectiveness to secure the trampoline.

Wind Stakes

The first type of trampoline anchor kit are wind stakes. This type of trampoline anchor set comes as a set of six or weight U-shaped steel pipes. They protect the trampoline from strong winds and therefore they are popularly knows as wind stakes for trampoline.

The wind stakes are very easy to install. You just need to insert both end of wind stake into the ground and make sure one trampoline leg is secured by it. You should install at least one wind stake on each trampoline leg.

After all wind stakes on properly installed (i.e. inserted into the ground), make sure all legs of the trampoline are secured. If required, you can add some dry/wet cement on the ground where stakes are inserted. It will make the wind stakes stronger to hold the trampoline legs tightly and save it from flying away during high winds, storm or hurricane.

Corkscrew Trampoline Anchors or Augers

The corkscrew style anchors are different than wind stakes. They have corkscrew shape & design on one end and a triangle on the other end. The trampoline corkscrew anchors (or augers) are also made of sturdy and stainless steel to provide strong holding and long lasting use.

It comes as a set of 4 augers, you should install one auger on each trampoline leg. If you need more augers then you should buy 2 sets of trampoline anchors. The set also includes straps that you need to tie down with auger triangle on one end and with the trampoline leg on the other end.

#2. Use Sandbags

The sandbags are the most effective tools to protect your trampoline from falling, rotating, moving and flying away. Even if you have already installed trampoline anchors, we still recommend you to add several sandbags on your trampoline. The sandbags are heavy and their heavy weight keeps the trampoline in place.

In order to secure your trampoline from strong winds and storms, you should add both the trampoline anchors and the sandbags. You can buy a set of sandbags from an online store. Kindly note that the sandbags will arrive empty and you will have to add the sand by yourself.

After filling up the sand, you should close the sandbags. Thereafter you should put two sandbags on each trampoline leg. Make sure the sandbags are placed properly so that they don’t move away when your trampoline is in use.

Final Verdict:

The trampoline in your backyard is a big investment for your family. You have spent hundreds of dollars on purchase and installation of it. Now, it is your responsibility to secure your trampoline with wind stakes or trampoline anchors and heavy sandbags to save it from falling, moving and flying away due to high winds, storms and hurricanes.
